Energy Modeling
There are many aspects of how a building is designed, constructed, and operated that can impact its energy use. A building's energy use is understood by comparing it to the energy use of a relevant baseline. For new construction, this baseline is set using industry benchmarks based on a large set of performance data from similar buildings in the same climate region. For existing buildings, this baseline is set based on the building's historical energy use.

Green Building Strategies
After establishing a relevant energy?performance baseline (for the project's size, location, and use), green building projects set energy?performance goals to reduce projected energy use relative to that baseline.
绿色建筑项目会先结合项目规模、区位、使用功能，建立合理的能耗基准，再设定能效目标，降低相对基准值的预估能耗。
Green buildings implement energy efficiency strategies that are cost efficient for the specific project. To do so, an engineer or energy consultant will develop an energy model, which is a computer model of the building that can simulate energy consumption over the course of a year. This model allows project teams to understand the impact of different potential energy efficiency strategies on projected energy use.
绿色建筑会采用适配本项目、具备成本效益的节能策略。工程师或能源顾问需搭建**能耗模型**，即模拟建筑全年能耗的计算机模型，帮助项目团队评估不同节能策略对预估能耗的影响。
The model estimates energy use based on:

The energy model helps project teams quantify how much energy a building is expected to save by comparing two models of the same basic building.
