Overview / 概述

LEED Platinum is the highest level of LEED certification. In addition to meeting all applicable prerequisites and earning the minimum number of points required for Platinum, projects pursuing Platinum certification must meet the following Platinum requirements specific to their rating system adaptation.

1. Minimum Point Threshold

Earn 80 points or more out of the 110 total available points.

2. Carbon Assessment

Complete a whole-building life-cycle assessment (WBLCA) demonstrating a minimum 20% reduction in global warming potential compared to a baseline building, covering both embodied carbon and operational carbon emissions over a minimum 60-year study period.

3. Energy Performance

Achieve a minimum 40% energy cost savings (or equivalent greenhouse gas emissions reduction) beyond the baseline, as demonstrated through whole-building energy simulation per ASHRAE 90.1.

4. Water Efficiency

Achieve a minimum 40% reduction in indoor water use beyond the baseline, and a minimum 50% reduction in outdoor water use (or use no potable water for irrigation).

5. Waste Reduction

Divert a minimum 75% of construction and demolition waste from landfill and incineration, or generate no more than 2.5 lbs of construction waste per square foot (12.2 kg/m²) of building floor area.

7. Renewable Energy

Supply a minimum 10% of the project's total annual energy use from on-site or off-site renewable energy systems, verified through renewable energy certificates (RECs) or equivalent instruments.

8. Commissioning

Engage an independent commissioning authority (CxA) for fundamental and enhanced commissioning of all energy-related systems, plus envelope commissioning in accordance with ASHRAE Guideline 0 and NIBS Guideline 3.
