Install permanent water meters that measure the total potable water use for the building and associated grounds. Committing with USGBC to share water-usage data for a five-year period beginning on the date the project accepts LEED certification, or until the building changes ownership or is demolished.

For projects that cannot install a permanent water meter (e.g., metering is prohibited by local ordinance), the project team must provide documentation demonstrating good-faith efforts and justification.
